Week 1: Message from Pres & training tonight

8 Oct 2018 by Kirsten Roberts

Hi All and welcome to OGBHLAC!
The first Saturday was a great success and it was wonderful to meet so many lovely families. I hope your kids all had a fantastic time and enjoyed the morning.

If you are planning on competing on Saturday you will need to be fully registered (paid and proof of age sighted by GLAC) by Monday 5pm at the latest. This will mean you will have a bib on Saturday and your times, jumps and throws will be recorded. If you are a registered Tryout please come on Saturday bring your try out bib or we will give you another sticker. Please note there are a maximum of two weeks of consecutive Tryouts allowed.

Andrea will be organising and managing this year’s roster. Please sign up for duty when you collect your child’s bib. It is expected that every family will do a duty every third week throughout the season. Duties are easy and a chance to be involved.

Please have a read of both the Geelong and OGBH handbooks. There is lots of information for both kids and parents.

We are starting our OGBH Athlete of the Week Awards. These awards are given to athletes who demonstrate any of the following:
Sportsmanship
Improvement
Excellence
Record Breaking
Having fun!!

The Barwon Heads Community Bank Branch OGBH Little Athlete of Week 1 is Josh McOuat who had an outstanding first week. He not only came first in all but one event – smashing his pb’s from last year – but he also got a Geelong Record in long jump. This is unprecedented on Week 1 of the season and wonderful for Josh who works so hard and loves his little athletics. We look forward to watching Josh’s successes this season. Please come and get your prize next Saturday 👏👏👏

Lastly training begins Tonight at Bop Bop Barwon Heads with Our qualifies coach Bec Kennedy Dalton. She will be concentrating on high jump, javelin and discuss.

Our training schedule can be found on the website in the Training section (funnily enough)

Be your best!

Ruth
